Q&A with Equinox Personal Trainer Alexis Stovall

HOW HAVE YOU KEPT YOUR CLIENTS MOTIVATED THROUGH QUARANTINE?

1. I wanted to help my clients as much as I could during this difficult time. I started using Instagram live sessions, to keep those excited and motivated. I held these classes for free knowing that it was difficult for many to pay since they had lost jobs during this time.

2. It was important for me to text and keep in contact with my clients and remind them we are all going through similar times. In my lessons, I was very focused on aligning the mind, body, and soul.

3. I also posted home workouts with household items. Because I have noticed that things like weights and yoga mats have been sold out more than usual.

WHY DID YOU START BEING A PERSONAL TRAINER FOCUSED IN PILATES?

I started out hating Pilates, feeling like it was repetitive and boring. This encouraged me to make

changes in the workout world. She makes an effort to make sure her one on one training feels like catching up with a friend while getting a toned body!

HOW DO YOU KEEP A HEALTHY DIET WHILE STUCK AT HOME?

It’s important for me to keep busy throughout the day reminding myself to enjoy the outdoors. Also, don’t be so tough on yourself, balance is key to a healthy lifestyle.

HOW MANY DAYS SHOULD WORKOUT DURING THE WEEK?

This is a very popular question for my client. How you create a workout schedule is typically based on how you prioritize your day. For me, the priority is to knock working out, very early so I can have the rest of my day to myself.

For my other clients that are working or have jam-packed mornings, it is important to schedule it around the stuff you need to get done. Working out 4-5 days is super important. Even if you cannot get a full workout, it is important to get those 10,000 steps a day!
